Why i am disapointed in RTX 4060 specs

The Nvidia RTX 4060 is a graphics card that was released after the Nvidia RTX 3060. Despite being a newer model, it is actually less powerful than the RTX 3060 in some aspects. Here are some reasons why:

CUDA Cores: The RTX 4060 has fewer CUDA cores than the RTX 3060. CUDA cores are essentially the GPU equivalent of CPU cores, designed to take on multiple calculations at the same time to boost performance. The RTX 3060 has 3584 CUDA cores while the RTX 4060 has only 3072.

Memory: The RTX 4060 has less memory than the RTX 3060.The RTX 3060 comes with 12GB of GDDR6 memory while the RTX 4060 has only 8GB of GDDR6 memory. This means that the RTX 3060 can handle larger data sets and more demanding applications.

Creator Benchmarks: While I couldn’t find any specific creator benchmarks comparing the two cards, it is likely that the differences in CUDA cores and memory would also affect their performance in creator workloads.

In conclusion, while the Nvidia RTX 4060 is a newer model, it is not necessarily more powerful than the Nvidia RTX 3060 in all aspects. It is important to consider your specific needs and requirements when choosing between these two graphics cards.

Here is a comparison table of the specifications of the Nvidia RTX 4060 and the Nvidia RTX 3060:

As you can see from the table, the RTX 4060 has fewer CUDA cores and less memory than the RTX 3060. It also has a narrower memory bus width and lower memory bandwidth. However, it has a lower TDP and was released at a lower price point. These differences in specifications can affect the performance of the two graphics cards in different workloads.

The memory bus in a graphics card is the pathway that connects the GPU to the memory (VRAM) on the card. It is responsible for transferring data between the two components. The width of the memory bus, measured in bits, determines how much data can be transferred at once. A wider memory bus allows for more data to be transferred at once, which can result in faster performance in some cases.

Comparing a 128-bit memory bus to a 192-bit memory bus, the 192-bit bus has 50% more lanes for data transfer, which can result in a higher memory bandwidth.

This means that in cases where memory bandwidth is a limiting factor, a graphics card with a 192-bit memory bus may perform better than one with a 128-bit memory bus.

However, it is important to note that the width of the memory bus is just one factor that affects the performance of a graphics card. Other factors such as the number of CUDA cores, clock speed, and memory capacity also play a role. So while a wider memory bus can provide some performance benefits, it is not the only determining factor in the overall performance of a graphics card. Not also mentions like in table that we have less CUDA cores in 4060 comparing to 3060.

This means like we are not moving forward with this segment, so if you plan on upgrade of your 3060 to 4060, than just forget it – in my opinion not worth really.
